A photo for everyday of the year

28/365 is a self initiated photography project. From my 28th birthday until my 29th birthday, I intend to take a picture with my iPhone everyday and upload it here to this website. I know it’s nothing original but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

I was inspired to do the project by a good friend of mine, Shannyn Dowsett, from when she did it with a disposable camera about 6 years ago.

Forgotten Returns???
January 12th, 2010

During my time at University, myself, Sarah Blick, Tim Rowe, and Alex Blazewicz started a little possie called “Forgotten“. We planned to go and explore tons of abandoned buildings and photograph them. We only got so far as Bristol Post office with the full intention of picking it up after University. Well, finally, 3 years later, Forgotten has returned, this time, with the help of Andrew Rose and Lee Stannard.

Our subject would be The Spiller’s Millennium Mill out by Canning town. It was pretty immense. The snow was heavy and it was freezing cold but we soon cheered up once we got into the ground, which wasn’t too hard (although my ripped jacket would argue otherwise). Unfortunately we weren’t able to gain access to the main Millennium Mill but we did manage to get into the Rank Hovis Mill at the back. I’d like to go back and try again to get into the main Mill and check out the abandoned barge that lies in the ground as well as the silo.

I’m hoping this spurs the full-time return of Forgotten and that we fulfill the goal we set all those years ago. Alex? Tim? Sarah?

Hopefully, with the help of the fellas over at 28dayslater.co.uk we can find some old places to explore.

The Adventures of Flip-Flop Fish
July 7th, 2009

I am proud to announce that the new children’s book The Adventures of Flip-Flop Fish is now available to buy. Tris and I have been working on this project, on and off, for a little over a year now and it’s good to finally get it out there.

Newly formed indie publishers, Rolling Badger Books (Tris Williams and myself) will be working on more ideas/stories/fun things in the future. We’ve got a few book ideas up our sleeves already, including “Flip-Flop Fish & The Moon Boots of Doom” and “Pog”.

Brand New and Moneen
June 29th, 2009

I’ve been waiting a very long time to be able to see one of my favourte bands Brand New play. On Saturday night I got to do just that. I was also given the treat of seeing Moneen play. A Canadian band that I found whilst working at A&B Sound in Calgary. I was over the moon that they supported Brand New.

What finished Brand New‘s face melting set off beautifully was the final song. Jesse Lacey, on stage on his own, performed a cover by Neutral Milk Hotel entitled “Oh Comely”. It was a great ending to an immense show. I’m looking forward to their new album.

RMG is AOK
May 18th, 2009

So the first week is over and the second week has just begun at RMG Connect. It’s been hard work and I’m busier than I’ve ever been but I’m already working on some really cool projects. Not sure I can say what those projects are, so I wont.

Horror Reanimated: Echoes
May 17th, 2009

Since University, this is the first project I’ve done that is print based. After designing horrorreanimated.com for writers and authors Mathew F. Riley, Joseph D’Lacey and Bill Hussey they asked me to design a book containing short horror stories to promote their UK book tour. The book was to be entitled “Echoes” and I’m hoping that it is the first of many books that are made for Horror Reanimated as I would love to do more.

Horror Reanimated: Echoes

I was asked to go along to the first leg of their tour which kicked off at Wood Green’s own, Big Green Book Shop. It was a great night where the general public/fans/shop owners got to field questions to the authors about their new books and stories, opinions about writing and it’s many genres. Everyone got to pick up a (signed) copy of “Horror Reanimated: Echoes” as well. I really loved the venue too. There’s not too many places nowadays that feel too much like what I like to call a “proper” book shop but once I was told that the book Pride And Prejudice And Zombies was filed by Jane Austin, I knew this was a great independent outlet and I’d definitely go back.

Being a Digital Designer you don’t really get the chance at work to do much to do with print so it was really great to design a book for these brilliant sentence engineers. It’s a dream to be able to design a book for the Horror genre too.

If you get a chance to pick one of these up I suggest you do as there’s only a limited amount of them and the stories are really good. For more information please visit www.horrorreanimated.com

Dawn Of The New Job
May 8th, 2009

Yesterday marked the end of an era, and the dawn of something new. I recently was given a job at RMG Connect, which will be my 2nd “proper” job in Grpahic Design. I start on Monday and yesterday was my final day at TBCH (Claydon Heeley), and what a final day it was. I was given a great send off by everyone. I had a BBQ at lunch, a brilliant zombie style leaving video and a great party in the evening. I’m recovering from it’s effects today. No fun, but worth it.

I loved working at TBCH and working with the people there. I’ve made some great friends at TBCH and I’m hoping that RMG will live up to how good TBCH was. Thanks very much to everyone and good luck.

One of my T-shirt designs is currently one of the featured designs on the RedBubble.com t-shirt main page. I just thought I’d share that with you as I’m quite pleased about it. It’s nice to be noticed I guess.

Book design for Horror Reanimated
April 28th, 2009

Last month I started on a project I’ve wanted to do since University; design a horror book. That book is now being given away at the Horror Reanimated book tour which starts 6 May: 6.30 p.m at The Big Green Bookshop, Wood Green.

The Chapbook entitled “Echoes” will (hopefully) be the first in a run of books that contain short horror stories from authors Joseph D’Lacey, Bill Hussey and close friend, Mathew F. Riley.

Having read all the stories I’m really proud to have been a part of it’s creation. These guys are dark and I love it!

Here’s a sneak photo of the final piece.
